Urban Pool Garden

A Secret Garden in the City

2016

Creating Green Space

This yard's initial state was entirely covered in concrete. Over the span of more than three years, Alison transformed every square inch in a series of skilled stages, infusing it with vibrant color and options for entertaining.

The Process:

SEVERAL SUMMERS | removed all concrete | built a pergola | installed a stone patio and eventually planted grass to surround the pool

EVERGREEN LANDSCAPING | sprinklers installed and the fences disappear with a row of climbing, red roses and a set of 10+ foot tall, hornbeam trees

RAISED BEDS | with beautiful, tall grasses which blow in the wind and colorful annuals provided a pop of color behind the couches

LATER SUMMERS | a mermaid and hammocks switch in and out from trips to Mexico and South America

   And Trying Out Black …

Women think of all colors except the absence of color. I have said that black has it all. White, too. Their beauty is absolute. It is the perfect harmony.

This is the garage door that came with the purchase of the house; it had to go to increase the size of the yard.
Custom Carriage Doors from Uxbridge, MA set the stage for a new outdoor dining area.
Old Dutch Door found at a salvage shop in New Bedford, MA.
This fence eventually came down to reveal the new pool house / gym and to accommodate an outdoor dining room.
Piece by piece the driveway is lifted. You can see the new, custom carriage doors.
